2022 - (Ongoing)
3D scanned objects are digital copies of real things. Things that belong to a certain place or a certain someone. Things that are still in use, or once got lost in the forest nearby someones house: A red foam ball, the scratched shell of a mussel, five matches and an antique dark-wood table leg. Once scanned, an object becomes weightless. A hollow shape, covered by a thin layer of image; preserved like a dead beetle by its exoskeleton.
In the ongoing project “Dead copies” these everyday objects - sourced from public archives online - hover, lean and stumble over each other. Resulting in a series of sculptures. Each lit up by daylight, casting tall shadows on the grey floor. Marking their spot, in the middle of a boundary-less virtual space.
